Things to do in July : San Sebastian

Summer is finally here! And with it, my attempt to be a little more active on the blog. I personally always loved compiling the best activities of the month in San Sebastián and surroundings, and I know you all found it quite useful. So here you go for the month of July, 2019, the best things to do in San Sebastián!

  • july 2 ::: BEIRUT ::: This gypsy-meets-Brooklyn favorite is coming through town! Tickets are still available for his performance in the Kursaal music hall. (Kursaal, 8:00pm, 20€)

  • july 6 ::: SWING IGELDO ::: One of my favorite places in town, the amusement park, hosts a lindy hop swing dance session. (Plaza del Funicular, 5:30-8:30, FREE)

  • july 7 ::: MERCADABADILLO ::: Like every first Sunday of the month, Dabadaba puts a hold on their too-cool-for-escuela concert schedule and hosts a little market in a nice ambience. (Dabadaba, 11:00-2:00, FREE)

  • july 13-16 ::: KARMENGO JAIAK ::: In summer, every neighborhood celebrates its “fiestas”. Karmengo Jaiak is one of the most local parties around, so throw on your blue plaid handkerchief and just watch. (The Port, FREE)

  • july 16 ::: COLORAMA FESTIVAL ::: You’ll have to go up to Biarritz for this one, but this street art festival is a great chance to see both local and international artists’ work out in the real world. (Biarritz, FREE)

  • july 18 ::: KUTXA KULTUR PLANA ::: That winning combination of a great location, outdoor roof terrace, nice background music and a summer crowd. This one features Sunset Reggae. (Tabakalera, 4th floor, 6pm, FREE)

  • july 24-28 ::: HEINEKEN JAZZALDIA::: Everyone's favorite festival. These are beautiful days, often smattered with rain (but hey, that's Donostiarra life), of concerts on the beach and in bars across town. Everyone from jazz greats to up-and-comers to people who aren't really jazz players but are big names fun to watch as the sun goes down behind Urgull. I'll see you Wednesday at Joan Baez. (FREE)

  • july 23 ::: LE PIANO DU LAC ::: Another one worth traveling for: these floating concerts are making their way across Spain and France, and this one stops at the picturesque Navarra body of water. (Embalse de Arroz, 8pm, suggested 10€)

  • all july ::: FRANCIS PANIEGO POP-UP ::: The Riojan chef returns to the Hotel Maria Cristina for his pop-up restaurant Ezcaray, your chance to experience an extra few Michelin stars in the city's constellation (Hotel Maria Cristina, July-October, starting at 100€)

If there's something I missed, or if you go to one of the events and particularly enjoyed it or have a funny story to tell, please leave a comment or shoot me an email.
